Victor Rural Fire District
The Victor Rural Fire District was established on Sept. 28th
1950. The District encompasses 100 square miles in the center of the Bitterroot
Valley. The District borders U.S. Forest Service ground for 10 miles on the
west side of the fire district. The eastern boundary is the Forest Service
ground in Sapphire Mountains. Our southern boundary is Sheafman Creek Road 6
miles from Victor, the northern boundary is Indian Prairie Loop 4 miles from the
town of Victor. The District has both the Bitterroot River and Highway 93
running the entire length. The District has 2,500 residents and over 170
businesses.
The Victor Rural Fire Department provided Volunteer
personnel for the Fire District. We carry 28 members on the roster and
currently are in the process of forming an additional fire company. The
Department maintains 2 fire stations, our Main Hall, in downtown Victor, and a
substation located at the junction of Bear Creek Road and Red Crow Road. The
department has 10 pieces of apparatus split between 2 halls. The Department
runs an average of 100 calls per year. The members are required to maintain at
least 40 hours of training per year. Our Volunteers trained over 1200 hours in
fiscal year 2004-05. This training and apparatus has allowed the Department to
achieve an ISO Fire Suppression rating of 6, on a scale of 1-10 as of December
2002.

On May 16, 2005 our Fire District purchased a 2005 Wildland Urban Interface
Structure Engine. This new engine cost the Fire District $230,000.00. With
a large portion of the fire district lying in the rural Urban Interface,
this engine will be a valuable asset; it will also be utilized valley-wide
under our mutual aid agreement. This new 4X4 Engine has an Allison 30000EVS
5 Speed Transmission, 330 HP International Diesel Chassis Engine, is capable
of transporting 1,000 gallons of water, has a Hypro Foam Pro 1600 Injection
Foam System, Akron 3293 Electric Fire Fox Nozzle, Upper Deck Monitor, front
mounted removable monitor, and many more key components that will aid in
fire protection for our Victor residents
